Satisfy Your Cravings The Healthy Way!

While I’m a big fan of indulging in moderation, there are some days when you have a craving and you want to really go all the way with it (thank you PMS!). If you know you can’t just stop after a few bites, why not try making a healthier version of what you crave? You can eat more of it, and may even sneak in some extra nutrition at the same time. Another bonus? You’ll know exactly what is going into your food, and burn off a few calories making your own treats at home instead of just popping open a package.

I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite recipes that I’ve found that really work for me on those I just want to have my cake… and eat all of it too!

If You Crave: POTATO CHIPS

Try This Instead: ROASTED CHICKPEAS

Sorry, but kale chips do not taste like potato chips to me (though I will admit they are a great way to eat kale!). That’s why I like to make roasted chickpeas whenever I’m in the mood for salty and crunchy snack. And while these guys don’t taste like chips either, they’re pretty good; full of nutrition and fiber, and you can eat them mindlessly in front of the TV without guilt (if you wish). So save yourself a workout (or two) and make these instead of grabbing a bag of Lay’s!

If You Crave: COOKIE DOUGH

Try This Instead: HEALTHY COOKIE DOUGH DIP

I have a big sweet tooth, so I was thrilled to find Chocolate Covered Katie’s amazing healthy dessert blog! Her cookie dough dip recipe is just amazing (its made with white beans!)– You have to try it to believe it.

If You Crave: PIZZA

Try This Instead: CAULIFLOWER CRUST PIZZA

This recipe rocks for all you gluten-free fans out there – baking a cauliflower crust pizza is an easy way to cut down on the calories and boost your nutrition count per slice. Yum!

If You Crave: CUPCAKES

Try This Instead: CHOBANI VANILLA CUPCAKES

Who doesn’t love a good cupcake? Bake your own with this easy recipe from Chobani that uses Greek yogurt to cut down on fat and pump up protein, without sacrificing an ounce of deliciousness!

If You Crave: ICE CREAM

Try This Instead: VEGAN CHOCOLATE SOFT BANANA SERVE

Try This Instead: GLUTEN-FREE VEGAN BLACK BEAN BROWNIES

Ok, I know – it doesn’t sound too appetizing, but trust me – they’re good (plus they’re gluten free and vegan too!).
