The 2013 Fall Fitness Challenge!

Fall Fitness Challenge Jessica Smith

WELCOME TO OUR 2013 FALL FITNESS CHALLENGE!

It’s time to get started on our 20-day mission to help you have more energy this fall! Why? Because when you have more energy, its easier to reach all of your goals – whether you are striving to lose weight or simply feel great, boosting your energy level is the perfect place to start.

STEP #1: SHARE YOUR PERSONAL POSITIVE ENERGY GOAL BELOW

Post your positive energy goal for the challenge in the comments below – tell us what you’ll be focusing on over the next 20 days! (Some examples include: “I will start my day with a 5-minute breathing exercise to help relieve stress and focus my mind,” or “I will end each day by writing down 3 things I am grateful for in a journal,” or “I will focus on fueling my body with nutritious and healthy foods first,” or “I will add two 8 ounce glasses of water to my daily intake.”)

When you check in each day on our YouTube video page, let us know what daily steps you’ve taken towards this personal goal of yours. Share and get ideas from our community members about how to incorporate new, energizing, healthy habits and let’s help keep each other accountable!

STEP #2: FOLLOW OUR DAILY WORKOUT SCHEDULE

Each workout is 30-minutes-or-less to help you fit in exercise without feeling overwhelmed! Remember you can always add more if you feel you need to, but check with your body first. You may not need more WORKout time, but maybe more movement – enjoy some extra fun activity that energizes you.

Once you’ve completed the workout for the day, leave a comment on the YouTube video page to let us know that you finished it, how it went and how you are feeling. If there are days that you don’t feel up to the assigned routine, feel free to substitute another workout, just check in on the same video page so we’re all commenting in the same place 🙂 I’ll be responding to everyone’s daily check ins at the end of each day. (Don’t forget, you MUST check in every day in order to be eligible for our grand prize drawing and a chance to win my 2 newest DVDs and a Peanut calendar!)

STEP #3: HAVE FUN!

Let’s make this something we can all look forward to doing together as a collective team! Peanut and I will be cheering you all on 🙂

Note: If you are joining us late, you can always jump on in! Please just be sure to check in on each video by Sept. 21st in order to be eligible for the final prize drawing which will take place on Monday Sept. 23rd.

Here’s to a fabulous & fun FALL!

Jessica, I can’t tell people enough about you and how awesome and doable your workouts are. I love when people say thank you for sharing your workout, which happens a lot! Not a day has gone by during this Fall Challenge I haven’t stayed true to my Fall Challenge goals and will always look for a minimum of 5 things to be grateful for when I am out doing my Walking for Mile A Day in 2013 on Facebook.

Thanks for being such a positive influence in my life.

I have noticed more energy while doing the Challenge! I sometimes add in some extra cardio on my bike to relieve stress. I have noticed more toning and definition, so these short workouts are very effective, and seem to work all the muscles. I’ve also made progress in learning to deal with stress and worry. Thanks so much for creating this rotation!

I have continued to not be hard on myself and have continued doing some meditation. I am feeling stronger in myself and comfortable with the body I have been given. Having a daily exercise has made a huge difference and I am so grateful. Thank you for our daily challenges!

I have to say, I’m really enjoying these shorter workouts and I actually look forward to doing them. My energy level has been pretty good but the brisk air makes it hard to get out of bed.

Feeling good! I am proud of myself for going strong this whole time even when some days it was so hard just to get started! I’ve noticed a big difference in my mental talk and think that helps my body follow along with every workout, everyday! Thanks for your motivation, Jessica!

I think I am doing pretty good with my goal. I am not being hard on myself and am feeling great about how I feel in myself. I refuse to beat myself up over things. Really need to set time out to do a little more stretching and unwinding in the evening. TIme just seems to get away from me on a daily basis. Will continue to strive to work on this.

My goal is to improve my flexibility by doing a stretching or yoga-type video at least 3 times a week. I also want to do the daily videos from here…I am starting a little late, but I’m going to start the “Day 1” video tonight! Very excited!

I just found your site. I recently spent five days on the couch after hurting my back doing a workout that was too difficult for me. When I was up and about again I started doing gentler workouts and realized how moving helps improve my mood and my general outlook on life. I decided lower impact workouts are better for me so I can keep moving and stay healthy. Since stretching helps me to recover I’m making my new goal to stretch more and improve my flexibility. I do want continue challenging myself but using joint friendly workouts, yours look like they are just what I need. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s workout!

Oh no! I’m starting on this challenge a few days late, so I won’t finish by the deadline unless we’re allowed to double up on the days we’ve missed.

I do have a goal to keep eating clean, exercise daily, drink 100 oz of water a day (I struggle with this one), and take one action towards my BIG goal daily.

Stopping and smiling, even if you have to make yourself smile always works. It’s contagious even to yourself no matter what your mood. Life can be pressing, stressful beyond means, but smiling automatically triggers endorphins that make you feel better and when you Pay This Forward, it has even more of an impact on you and your life.
      Have a great September.

I can definitely feel yesterday’s Ball workout in my oblique muscles this morning and somewhat in my back. I did keep changing from my 6 pound medicine ball to a no weight “Miracle Ball” I have for my back and it worked great. I am looking forward to starting today’s Barefoot Walk today. I am unable to do this barefoot due to tumors on my instep on my left foot, but I do have enough room in my shoes to do the necessary toe raises etc for it.

Onward to Day 2. Happy Back To Life, Back To Reality Day for most of you. Make it a great one. The choice is yours. Put Post It notes everywhere for yourself. NO EXCUSES. HEALTHY FEELS GREAT.

My goal is to put aside perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking and just do the suggested workouts each day (rather than my historical insanity of doing the occasional marathon session of every exercise I’ve ever learned which wears me out and makes me not want to move at all for at least a week, LOL). I have chronic fatigue syndrome and need to learn to do more than nothing but not too much. These workouts look less crazy-intense than most I’ve see out there on the internet or at my gym, so I hope they will be energizing rather than so brutal they cause a crash/relapse.

At times she would get upset.I believe the stretching will help me deal with stress relief especially related to the autistic behaviors.Wini has been hyper for 10-17 hours. It has exhausted me.So I,’ really looking to build my energy.

We can improve our life in 21 days : Just make mine this routine to become an early riser (but every day) and daily workout in the morning (but every morning). I’m thin and muscled, but no as regular that I would be. But I know I can do it.

My Goal: Be more like my cats! … (1) Wake up and STRETCH for at least 5 minutes; (2) Eat more LEAN PROTEIN and LESS SUGAR; (3) Be MORE ACTIVE (= do the challenge workouts); and (4) get a good night’s sleep … MEOW! 🙂

This looks awesome! I’ve just spent a fantastic week in Lisbon walking up and down its steep streets and I am totally ready for the fall fitness challenge! My goal is to finish it and be kind to myself (and not just for the next twenty days…). Thank you ever so much Jessica! 🙂

My goal is to not skip the stretching at the end of each workout (something I am guilty of frequently doing) and to incorporate quiet meditation into my day in order to clear my mind and reduce stress.

I believe everyone’s goals here are fantastic, and if there is anyone who can help us achieve them, it’s Jessica and Peanut. I have been doing your workouts for a couple of months now, together with some changes in my eating habit. The combination makes me feel better, more energized and happier. I lost 10 kilos! I’m recommending your workouts to other people as well! Especially if you don’t have a lot of time, but you want to workout, have variety in exercises and also fun, this is the place to be. Also a positive energy fall challenge is a great idea, especially since fall in most parts of the world is not the most cheerful season…Anyway, my goal is (next to following the fall challenge workout schedule of course) to do a 3 minute a day mindfulness exercise to help me listening better to my body and needs. I am taking good care of my body and health by eating healthily and working out regularly, but getting peace of mind is still challenging. Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm! Keep up the good work, Jessica! Best regards, Kathelijn from Amsterdam, The Netherlands

My goal is to get out for a short walk every evening after work. It will go a long ways in transitioning from a stressful and sedentary job to a less stressed evening that doesn’t include my sitting on the couch for the rest of the night! I always feel better after walking outside and don’t know why I don’t do it more.

My goal is to get up earlier in the morning so that I can start the morning with a workout and a little quiet time instead of with a mad rush to get my kids up, ready, and out the door for school. It’s amazing how much this little change helps with my energy when I actually make myself do it 🙂

My goal is to drink 8 glasses of water a day. I have never been good at this, and have said many times that I will do it, but this time I am going to make sure it happens by counting them each day. Should be easy due to this being a ‘Spring Challenge’ for us Aussies!!
