25-Minute Barre Abs, Buns And Thighs

Lose belly fat with this barre-inspired abs, butt & thighs at home exercise routine that only takes 25 minutes to complete! You can do this workout anywhere you have a little floor space to do the movements. Use this routine on its own to tone your abs, butt and thighs or combine with other videos from my channel for an all-over workout.

    Hi Jessica! I wanted to let you know that you have literally changed my life. I started running and biking about 4 years ago, but due to my panic disorder getting worse, I stopped outside exercising for fear of having a panic attack. It was a very terrible time in my life….and then I discovered your website about 2 months ago and have faithfully been exercising at home with you and Peanut! I love your barre workouts the best, although every workout I’ve done I’ve enjoyed :-). My motto is to “break a sweat” everyday. Sorry for the long post, but I did want you to know that your enthusiasm, style and motivation techniques are spot on! I have tried a few others, but always came back to you.     just did ballet sculpt and fancied carrying on so polished off my workout with this…amazing i love it my legs are like jelly! I’m a dancer and i have 2 shows tonight so that should be interesting!

    I actually completed this the day it was scheduled but had issues getting onto the website. Great workout, really made me see how far I have to go. I had to laugh, I had the same issue with my dog about the time Peanut decided to go under your leg. Unfortunately my dog is a little more hyper than Peanut so exercising with him in the room added a whole new challenge level. Thanks for a great workout!

    Oh my goodness! I am right-handed and I the last “pretzel move” killed on my left leg, is that normal? I could not lift my back leg, maybe I’m not flexible? I hope by the end of this challenge, I can do one of these longer videos all the way through!

    Abs, Butt & Thighs = tough work-out! I wasn’t sure if I was doing the final exercise correctly, perhaps I had the supporting leg too bent under body? It was only a small movement, but I felt the burn…going to ache tomorrow 🙂 #JSTVfit

    I really did feel that, reminds me of a workout I loved to do like 5 years ago, except now this really makes me feel very fat 🙁 there is no place to hide all the fat I gained while doing these ab workouts, All the more reason I need to commit to this 28 days!!!

    Holy Smokes that was the best leg and ab workout EVER! My bull dog joined me on the mat and when I asked if she was trying to be a peanut my husband said she’s to big for that-she’s a cashew…gosh everyone in my house is a comedian!

    Day 3 done! I felt awkward many times during this workout, but really great at the same time. This is why I love, love, love your challenges. I do these videos that are out of my comfort zone and are really great but don’t have that dread factor of knowing I will have to keep doing it each week until the challenge is over-lol.     I LOVED this workout! Your bar workouts looks so graceful and pretty yet they work so deeply in weird muscles that don’t generally get worked. I have to keep practicing to look as graceful as Jessica though! Thank you for always reminding the viewers about taking care of their necks. I tend to look all around and then I hear your reminder and save myself the strain. #SweatingwithSmith

    Day 3 part 2 completed. I’ve done numerous videos of Jessica Smith youtube channel but had never done this one and it was a hella killer. I could feel the burn after every new set. I pushed myself really hard and made it throuh. Jessica is a great motivator and I cannot wait to see how my body looks after week one because my face is already starting show it 🙂 THANKS JESSICA AND LIL PEANUT 😀

    LOVE this workout! GRACEFUL AND GRIMACING. That is how I would describe it. I was graceful, pointing my toes and doing the movements and yet my face was grimacing. Thank you for an excellent workout. As always!!!

    Day 3 complete. This was tough! I just kept telling myself, “you’re getting stronger right now,” and kept going. Thanks for safe challenges with plenty of motivating encouragement. At one point, my dog sat under my leg that was raised…I guess he wanted to help me out…or maybe he was just watching Peanut onscreen. 🙂

    Wow! This one was very intense I had to pause more than ones. I knew I was out of shape but didn’t know I was that bad! Good thing Jessica has Peanut to help her! LOL! Anyways feel proud of my self for not giving up and I liked I felt my stomach muscles. And I know in time I’ll get better.

    Day 3 done! I didn’t want to do these tonight, but I did. Wow these leg exercise were just what I needed; my thighs and hips have been weak and achy… without pushing myself too hard, at day 28 I expect to feel stronger and more limber! Thank you!

    This was incredibly tough especially after a long day at work. I prematurely got excited when I saw this workout was going to be on the mat. That quickly faded. I had to really stay mentally present to make it through. Then, I had some major toe cramping issues. I’m not sure what that was all about, but I’m glad to know that I was not the only one. And, that last exercise at the end … sick! However, I know I’m going to be thanking you later, Jessica.

    I hope I can walk in my heels at work tomorrow …

    And to follow up my comment from the last video…that one may not have been that, bad, but after this one I am pretty sure if a doctor cut me open they would find jelly in place of muscle. I was so wobbly when I tried to stand up afterward that I could only laugh at myself and try hard not to become thoroughly acquainted with the floor. Thankfully the feeling passed quickly, however I think I will be very, very sore tomorrow…

    Hi Jessica. I couldn’t do this workout but I did the 30-minute Ballet Body. Due to my bad knee I could only complete 19 minutes of it. Will this count on the program or should I leave it til later and try to do the whole 30 minutes? Some of these really bother my knee so I have to do some of the exc. different. Is this ok on the challenge? Thanks for what you do for us!! 🙂

    Jessica: this was very difficult for my 60 year old body but I hung in there in spite feeling nauseous. I will probably be sore tomorrow. May have pushed a little too hard–am weak and shaky now—but still determined!

      Sounds like you may have gone a bit too far (nausea is a sign your body needs to rest a bit more). Next time you start feeling like that hit ‘pause’ grab some water or take some deep breaths until you are ready to continue on 🙂 We are NOT like the Biggest Loser — there is no throwing up or passing out in our workouts!! Keep listening to your body + go at your own pace – thats what is great about a video – you can hit start and stop when you need to!

    Wow! That was hard! I feel like I need some more advice on what to do when I can’t make it through some exercises. I tend to just rest and do nothing when I can’t do all of the reps. Is it better to do fewer reps but stay with the harder exercise, or do a less intense exercise more times?
    On a positive note, I did it! Day three done!

    I woke up a little sore from the last two days, but I did the 9 Min Low Impact HIIT which I thoroughly enjoyed and then onto this one, which was great but I found a little more difficult. It put strain on my neck with the sit ups (especially when not supporting my head) and I found my hips and back straining somewhat (but Pilates is quite challenging on my back and hips anyway due to my neck, shoulder, back, hip and knee injuries/problems), but I modified the best I could and I did the stretches twice and it felt sooo good. I just love how Peanut wants to get in there and under foot just when you least expect it. So funny! Thanks for a Wonderful Wednesday Workout, Jessica, and keep up the great work, everyone! We are almost halfway through Week One!!!! Yay!

    I really liked this workout even though I had to take a few breaks. It looked sooo easy. Can’t wait until I can do it all the way through without taking breaks! This is a fantastic workout.

    OK Jessica, what’s up?! Are you trying to kill us today? My puppy, Sassy, kept getting in the way! She thinks if I am on the floor it is to play with her! She thought plopping her 35 pound body on my chest would make my crunches more effective! There were a few moves in this one I could not follow by just listening, so I did other moves when I wasn’t sure! Believe me though, I felt it in my abs and my buns! In fact during one move my right cheek started twitching! Being blind can make these difficult (more so), but I think I’m hanging in there!

    2 of 2 now done. That workout was tough, i felt each move. i had to adjust a few of the moves for my shoulder and neck but still felt the muscles working. 4 more never meant so much!!

    Every time I was laying on my back and had to extend the right leg forward, I felt like my hip was popping (like the bicycle exercise for instance). Is there a reason why? Any suggestions on what to do? Other than that, wow! I liked that workout and I feel it definitely in my abs and butt! Day 3 part 2 complete 🙂

    Day 3: I made it!! My workout partner went to play video games, while I finished. Let me tell you, when I was on my side, and raising my leg with my arm going back, my legs were ON FIRE!!! And as soon as I was ready to quit, I’d hear, “We’re almost done”, or “Stay with me”, and that kept me going the last stretch! That was a GREAT workout, even though I wanted to quit a few times. Thanks for cheering me on, Jessica! Everyone else ~ You are doing fantastic! Keep up the great work!

    Had to modify quite a bit because my shoulder/neck still a bit stiff. But at least I was able to do it! Would like to go back to that one when my shoulder/neck cooperating so I can work muscles a bit more thoroughly.

    That was such a good burn. Loved it. Definitely going to remember this one and do it more often. I remember US gymnast Alicia Sacramone recommending the last move a long while back. Killer buns for sure.

    Also, I really enjoy doing barre workouts with you Jessica. I know the VS angels are all about Ballet Beautiful but I can’t get myself to complete those, let alone enjoy it. Very boring. But I love almost all of your barre workouts (and I haven’t even done all of them).

    This was difficult and I do struggle not to arch my back and to relax my neck. I may not get in as many reps because I am focusing on getting my form correct. Thank you for your gentle reminders regarding form because I find them to be encouraging and helpful.

    Done this one, too but Oh. My. God. I hope I’m not the only one who couldn’t do all the repetitions?! I’ve to pause during the workout and now I’m sure that I will feel every single muscle tomorrow.

      Don’t give up! This was a tough one! Please remember you can search through our “beginner workout” options on the site anytime you feel you need to sub out a day’s routine. Stick with us and go at your own pace. We’re all working at different levels, keep going at yours 🙂 You can do this!

    Did this one over the weekend with my 14 and 16 y.o. daughters (both are on a dance team). They found the exercise challenging and fun and really enjoyed it. A great workout. Day 3 complete!

    Absolutely love these barre moves. Took daily ballet classes in my younger years and there’s nothing like that pulled-together feeling that ballet gives me–it’s totally worth the burn! Am ordering the DVD of course–thank you!–and looking forward to working with it after the Challenge…

    Wow…those pretzels are tough! Had to get down on my elbow to be able to lift my leg. I guess I lack flexibility and strength in that area so I’ll have to keep working at it. Did alot of stretching after completing this workout so hopefully won’t be too sore later! Day 3 part two completed. Woohoo!

    Really enjoyed this one. I’ve been dealing with hip issues, and found that this didn’t give me any pain, but seems like it would help strengthen the area, which I really need. Still need to do the HIIT but leaving it for tomorrow.
    Love it when Peanut makes those cute noises.

    oh my god!!! Day 3 is a killer! Well, my legs are my weakest spot. Not that any spot is super strong, but my legs – I’ll be surprised if I can walk right tomorrow. But I really need this one. I need to come back to this on and work on those muscles!! I agree with the comment above me (SarahNeilson) I have done something MASSIVE today!!
