Welcome to workout 6 of our #FITIN15 Plan! Yoga is a wonderful way to build flexibility, range of motion and relieve stress. But if you are just starting out, some traditional yoga poses and postures can be a little overwhelming and/or too tough on the wrists. This gentle, yoga-inspired routine uses a chair to help safely support your body into a deeper stretch.

We’ll be building into the exercises gradually, so just do your best, listen to your body and stick with the options and versions of the exercises that work best for your current fitness level. You’ll need a sturdy, high back chair for this routine.

Equipment: A sturdy, high back chair

Intensity: Easy
This 15-minute full length home workout routine helps to stretch out the muscles in the thighs, inner thighs, legs, quadriceps, hamstrings, core, arms, shoulders and abs with exercises like:

Neck stretches, shoulder stretches, triceps stretch, side stretch, seated twist, seated roll up, standing cat/cow stretch, chair assisted downward facing dog, chair assisted upward facing dog, chair assisted triangle pose, chair assisted twisted triangle, standing quadriceps stretch, hip stretch, seated twist, chest opener.

    This is great! I’ve been sitting at my desk with a sore neck and decided to shut my door and take a 15 minute break. I was hoping to find a short, quick and easy video that would relax my mind and my muscles. This did the trick! 🙂

    A few weeks ago I was searching Amazon for easy yoga videos that might help with neck and shoulder pain and found your Gentle Yoga DVD. It is wonderful! It’s really helped.     Into Day 21 of the Fit in 15 Challenge! I bought all the DVDs as digital downloads and have been following your walking guidelines on the alternate days as well as the bonus workouts! So, today I have done the Walk On Stride, Stretch & Relax, the Yoga For Beginners and Beyond PM and this chair yoga. I also did a 15 min. mile. Feels good! I am over my pneumonia finally and working it all! Thanks for the options.
