LIFT and SHIFT: Month Three Check In

by | Dec 29, 2020 | 16 comments

Hello Lift & Shift Team!

Welcome to our Month THREE check in page 🙂

Please keep checking in with our group here and let us how your workouts are going, share your Month Three exercise results, etc. with all of us!

You can ask questions about the program along the way (please be sure to keep an eye out for our FAQs that we’ll be adding to as we go — you may find answers to your questions there as well!).

Part of the SHIFT we’re making happens best when we seek support from others, and that’s exactly why we’re including this added community piece to this process!

We’re here for you, and hope you’ll also show up to help others in our community as we go as well.

Just a couple of notes for our check ins:

Please keep your posts about the plan and your month one sessions and assignments here on this page (if you have questions about the platform, tech issues, or anything else that you might need more specific help with, please contact our digital team directly at support@platformpurple.com so that they can help you right away).

We’ll be adding to our FAQs page here as we go through the plan, so please check out this page for an additional resource for questions about the program.

We read every comment before it’s posted so that we can respond as often as we can, keep spammers out and make sure we can keep the posts focused on the plan to make it easier for you to share and reply with the rest of the team as we go.

We review all posts Monday – Friday (once in the morning and once again towards the end of the day), so if you have submitted a comment and don’t see it yet, please allow us time to review and post it for you (thank you for your patience as we work through all of the comments as quickly as we can).

Thank you for joining us for this journey. We’re so glad you are here!

Sincerely,

Jessica & Peanut 🙂

Week 9 and starting with the HIIRT session. It’s going to be a tough week!

Today, I sweated but it was definitely a little bit easier. Even though the husband mentioned I was only 9 minutes in at one point, I didn’t notice the time. Whilst I was glad when I finished, I felt so good after it.

Loving the program – thank you Jessica 😄

    Hello Jessica and Team!

I just had to share that I think I need a blooper reel during my workouts. I am never good at putting my weights or equipment down between exercises in a very orderly fashion, instead I am eventually crowded in a corner surrounded by weights, sliders and my step. All I need to do is take an extra 5 seconds to put everything away properly but I am so scared to miss the next exercise – which is ridiculous – because there is plenty of time! The other day I was doing some of the step work and my hair got caught in my ceiling fan chain – good gracious!

I was wondering if you plan on creating a workout rotation that includes Lift and Shift and all your other workouts? Maybe a rotation with Walk On/Lift and Shift and Walk Strong/Lift and Shift or maybe all three?

Hi Connie! So great to hear from you again! Oh my goodness, that is too funny! I can completely relate – I have tripped over many an exercise piece in my day (many times while teaching a live class, oops!). But yes, in all seriousness, please do take the extra time to careful put your things away, we don’t want you to get hurt (so glad you didn’t get hurt when your hair got caught in the fan.. ouch!!). And just remember, even if you do need a little more time in between you can always pause or rewind a bit to catch up too 🙂 And I never want you to feel rushed! While we don’t currently have a plan to do a rotation that combines this series with our other plans at this time, you can most definitely add these sessions in to our other rotations as often as you’d like. You can swap out any ‘Total Body’ sessions for any of those with ‘Total Body’ in the title, same for ‘Lower Body’ or ‘Upper Body’ and similarly titled ‘Core’ or ‘Mobility’ (flexibility) sessions as well. I hope this is helpful, but please feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions or would like any more specific guidance. I’m here and always happy to help in any way that I can 🙂 Please keep up the awesome work you are doing. Can’t wait to join you for our next session together soon!

Week 9! 2/3 through the program–crazy!!! It was HIIRT day, and I can say that session is growing on me. It’s getting easier–dare I say it’s actually fun?! Never thought I’d say that! But that’s really a testament to how far I’ve come. I’ve been thinking about what my exercises will look like after the program (going back to my old dvd’s) and I’m excited to prove to myself how much more I can lift and how much better I’ll do at the repetitions. I think that’s definitely a success! I’m kind of sad to see it end, is that weird?! I’ve loved the positive shift and community support. I’m so glad we’re able to participate in the later sessions and cheer others on! I’ve honestly loved seeing others from all areas of the world and walks of life. Thank you for the ability to support each other and get support during this program! It’s been a game changer for sure!

Hi Janelle! WOW, Welcome to WEEK 9!! HIIRT and ‘fun’ in the same sentence, now that is some definite progress right there for sure! CONGRATS! Let’s take a minute here as we start week 9 to celebrate your SUCCESS! WOO HOO! YES!! Hi Jessica! I started week seven today. I had a little hiccup for a couple of days last week but I the weekend to catch up. The routines I used to fear are no longer intimidating. I have increased my weights a little but am not yet using a step because of my hip. I’m also trying to stick with the shift. I’m feeling much much calmer and less stressed. Unfortunately I’m not sleeping too well but this is partly due to circumstances I can’t do anything about. Thanks so much for this programme! I’m definitely going to see it through.

Hello Jessica! I have a question that is sort of hard to explain. When you say put your thumbs higher than your pinkies during exercises like the chest press – do you mean I should turn my thumbs to point more at the ceiling or point them towards the wall behind me. I am not sure if I am making sense?

Hi Connie! Thank you for this — this is a GREAT question! So if you are doing a chest press, if you are looking up at your hands with your arms extended up above your chest, you want to very slightly turn your hands out so that your thumbs point a little more towards your head (higher) than your pinky fingers do, which just slightly externally rotates your shoulder position a tad. Does that make sense? (I’m sorry if my cueing wasn’t more clear on that! This really helps me for next time to better explain/detail what I mean 🙂

Thanks Jessica. I’m sure it is just me and your cueing is fine. This is extremely helpful. I could sort of tell by looking at how you were doing it but just thought I would clarify. I was really scared to start this program and I can’t believe how much I have improved with my endurance over the past few months. I never thought I would enjoy weightlifting. I honestly never thoroughly enjoyed just weightlifting workouts before. You really have a way of making it fun. I chuckle at Peanut all the time too. I am glad I decided to try this program and not let my fear win.

Thanks so much for asking about that — it’s always a great idea to double check if you aren’t sure! I’m so glad it helped. And I’m so happy to hear that you are feeling such amazing progress with the program already! Congrats to you on all of your hard work and dedication. I’m so thrilled you decided to try the program and take on this challenge with us. You are doing such amazing things! Thanks so much for being here (Peanut sends you a big high five!). Can’t wait to see you for another session soon 🙂
